About Kinesiotape

What is Kinesiotaping?

Kinesiotape is a therapeutic taping technique which alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the layers of the skin. Kinesiotaping has been used in conjunction with neuromuscular re-education, aiding in inflammation reduction, by increasing lymphatic fluid flow and increasing circulation.

Kinesiotape is often used at Totum Health as an additional therapy to aid in the postural awareness involved in many of the conditions we treat. It’s other primary use in our office is in management of acute injuries (sprains & strains) involving bruising and swelling.

We utilized ROCKTAPE as our tape provider at Totum Health. Dr. Kelley is certified in Functional Movement Taping since 2016.

About Instrument Assisted Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

What is Instrument Assisted Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

IASTM is a skilled form of myofascial intervention used for soft-tissue treatment. It is applied with instruments that are usually made of stainless steel with bevelled edges and contours that conform to different anatomical locations on the body. It is targeted at moving muscles, fascia, ligaments, and tendons. There are various forms of IASTM, such as Gua sha, commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine or spa settings, which have different rationales, goals, and applications than IASTM.

Dr. Kelley has been trained via Smart Tools.
